Kill Your Darlings is excited to launch our inaugural KYD School Writing Prize, which is designed to develop, mentor, edit and publish the work of two writers from Australian secondary schools.
We’re seeking entries of up to 1500 words in the categories of fiction and non-fiction, with students responding to a current social or political issue. The two winners will receive a $500 cash prize, editorial support and publication in KYD.
Both fiction and non-fiction categories will be judged by KYD's publishing director and author Rebecca Starford and award-winning author and poet Maxine Beneba Clarke.
Entries for the 2019 School Writing Prize close at 5pm AEST 28 June, with the winners to be announced at a special event in August 2019.
* PLEASE NOTE: Entry to the KYD Student Writing Prize is open exclusively to KYD School Members and their students. There is no additional entry fee. To find out more about KYD School Memberships, click here.
* Only one entry per student will be accepted. If you submit multiple works, only the first will be considered. (There is no limit on the amount of entries per school, or teacher submitting on students’ behalf.)
